To Porn or Not to Porn; that is the question.

To Porn or Not to Pornš¤·āāļø...
...Inherently, thereās nothing wrong with it.
The issue lies when we treat it like education and forget that itās entertainment.
We can be visually stimulated by the images which can help with arousal and we need to become conscious consumers:
Where is it sourced? Who directed?
Is it ethically created?
Is there foreplay or just stick it in there?
Is whatās portrayed āperformanceā or based on femme ethos?
Feminist porn includes what is happening on + off camera, and is female body needs based.
As well, we want to ensure that what we are consuming was ethically created.
Ethical porn includes what is happening behind the camera.
Some things to note:
Are the actors treated fairly?
Are the actors paid fairly?
Is there coercion?
Like you do research on your food and nutrition, take the time to research your porn source.
Some great places to source are: Erika Lust, CrashPad, Vex Ashley and Four Chambers, TorontoInternationalPornFestival.com, Holly Randel, Make Love Not Porn
Itās also so important to check in with yourself after and see how you are feeling during and afterwards:
Do you feel empowered after? Or depressed/empty?
Do you compare yourself to whatās on screen and become self-critical?
Have you become reliant on it for your turn on?
These are just some questions to ask yourself when approaching this sensitive + (hopefully) pleasurable topic.
